1.Basic Description of Fiberglass Open Lifeboat

GRP Open lifeboat is a economical series and can meet the requirement of rescue and is suitable for Passenger Ship and Cargo Ship island river and offshore vessels.

The hull of lifeboat is made of the fire reinforced plastic(F.R.P). Even now the open lifeboat can not meet the SOLAS regulations anymore, but it also can be used for training and leisure etc.

The space between the inside and outside hull is filled with polyurethane foam which will be afloat with the help of the foam even the part of boat underneath the water damaged.

3. General description of Fiberglass Open Lifeboat

The boat is a motor propelled Open lifeboat designed to be launched by davit.

The Open lifeboat has excellent reliability, maneuverability, and sea-keeping abilities.

 

4. Hull 

The boat hull and inner line are made of glass reinforced polyester with waterproof marine approved type unsaturated polyester as its binder and fiberglass cloth felt as its strengthening material, the fiber reinforced glass is formed by layers laying in module.

7.  Lifting system

The lifting arrangement is a double point system, with connecting ring for davit hook. 
The hooks are controlled from a release handle mounted on starboard side of the steering position and will release simultaneously when the craft is fully waterborne.

Open type life boat refers to a lifeboat without a fixed canopy. It is convenient for passengers in distress to quickly board, and most traditional lifeboats belong to this type. According to the 1983 amendment to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, open lifeboats are no longer used on international vessels. Since July 1, 1991, open lifeboats will be replaced by fully enclosed or semi enclosed lifeboats with rigid canopies. However, non international vessels can continue to use open lifeboats. In order to improve the living conditions of the crew, an open lifeboat can be equipped with a canopy that can fully cover the entire boat. The exterior of the shed is painted in a clear and visible color, and is equipped with a manually controlled light with a distance of more than 2 n miles, continuously illuminating for 12 hours to facilitate sea and air search and rescue.
There are two types of open lifeboats: motorized and rowing. If the passenger quota is 60 or more, it should be a motorized life boat. When an open type life boat capsizes at sea, the bottom handrails and stabilizer ropes can be used to straighten the boat.
